Christmas Carolers

December 18-19, 2009 -- Trieste, Italy

The "Christmas Carolers" from the Frontier School of the Bible in Lagrange, WY  came to sing on the streets and in the piazzas of Trieste, reminding folks of the real reason for the season - the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to save us!  The group is made up of 7 students and their professor, Ken Stearns.  They wear traditional Dickens' era costumes, which draws a lot of good attention.

In addition to singing along the streets, the group sang in various shops in the city, giving us the opportunity to give something back to this city and it's people.  People are thrilled to see and hear them.  This was the 5th year that we've had Christmas carolers in Trieste and by now many people are watching for them.  Around October, folks start asking us if they are coming again.  It's a very fun time and gives us opportunity to meet and talk with many people.

On Saturday night we had a concert in the huge San Antonio church right downtown Trieste.  Although the newspaper reported that we had the worst weather the city has seen in 18 years that day, about 200 people still came out for the concert!  They braved the snow, bitter cold and harsh winds (gusts up to 150 kmh).  We gave out verse-a-day calendars as well as dozens of Gospels of John and copies of a DVD with testimonies of 7 Italian believers.
